Inauguration of the Main Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant at Nobaria Sugar Company

Dr. Mohamed Sultan, Governor of Beheira, together with Dr. Mokhtar Khattab, Chairman of the Board, and Engineer Hussein Ali Hassan, Managing Director of Nobaria Sugar Refining Company, inaugurated the company’s main industrial wastewater treatment plant.

The plant, with a total investment of EGP 54.27 million, includes civil, electrical, and mechanical works, and has a treatment capacity of 400 m³/hour to accommodate the company’s future expansions.

The station operates through two treatment stages—aerobic and anaerobic—with the treated water discharged into Drain No. 5 in compliance with environmental laws and water surface discharge regulations.

During the visit, the Governor inspected the sugar production stages from sugar beet, where the factory produces 150,000 tons of sugar annually, covering about 15% of local market demand, in addition to 60,000 tons of animal feed and 55,000 tons of molasses per year.

The factory, established on an area of 266 feddans, represents an investment cost of EGP 1 billion, providing 750 direct jobs and 6,500 indirect job opportunities, contributing to the national economy with an estimated USD 255 million annually.

Governor Sultan was accompanied by Eng. Nadia Abdo, Deputy Governor, Eng. Fathy Abdel Ghany, Assistant Secretary-General, as well as directors of the Health, Agriculture, and Supply directorates, and members of the company’s Board of Directors.
